Fall means many things to many people. But to me, it means cooler temperatures, a couple of fun holidays, colorful landscapes and more time indoors for games by the fire. Here are a few vibrant pens that will remind you of the season with each stroke you write.

Retro 51 and the United States Postal Service® have a treat for you just for Halloween: Spooky Silhouettes. This glow-in-the-dark limited edition rollerball is reminiscent of the four Halloween stamps created by artist Tyler Lang for the United States Postal Service, 2019 season. Insulated Travel Mug

The colorful illustrations feature silhouettes of a black cat, bats, a spider, and ghosts. Each is backlit by bright colors that make the creatures eerily pop: yellow, purple, red, and orange. The pen’s black barrel is accessorized with black accents, and the finial is crowned with another spooky spider.

There are just 1,031 pieces in this edition, and each pen is engraved on the top ring with its unique number.

Oktoberfest is “one-part beer fest, one-part carnival, and one-part display of German heritage,” according to Esterbrook. It’s also a time to celebrate the harvest, so a new fountain pen and rollerball pen in shades recalling the autumn bounty are being introduced. The Camden model was chosen as the perfect canvas for a stacked acrylic design of amber, red, and gray hues that offer a serene wheat-field appearance, while potentially reminding one of that next mug of pale ale.

The pens are available with gold or palladium trim, and nib sizes for the fountain pen range from extra fine to broad, with custom nibs (Journaler, Scribe, and Needlepoint) available.

S. T. Dupont Defi Millenium.

Available as a fountain pen, rollerball and ballpoint, the new Defi Millennium features a slightly tapered lacquered barrel featuring the S.T. Dupont signature logo just above the metal gripping section. The articulated clip has an inlaid black lacquer detail running its length, and the S.T. Dupont “D” emblem decorates the crown. The Defi Millennium fountain pen features a hooded stainless steel nib, available in medium, while the slightly slimmer ballpoint pen has a reliable soft-twist mechanism.

The pens come in five striking colors of lacquer: matte orange with polished chrome appointments (shown); polished black with polished chrome appointments; matte red with polished chrome appointments; polished navy blue with polished chrome appointments; and, matte black with polished gunmetal accents.

The new Visconti Backgammon limited edition is available as a rollerball or fountain pen, with all the design cues that will make any backgammon lover swoon. The fountain pen features Visconti's patented Double-Reservoir Power-Filler system and is fitted with an in-house 18-karat white gold nib that is available in extra fine, fine, medium, and broad sizes, as well as stub.
